Anyone ever use tea tree oil too close to their lips and getting the produce cold sore like symptoms?
I have used tea tree oil for my acne for the last 3 days, and suddenly today, I have a painful, red, scaly area around the bottom of my lip. It's actually not on my lip, but only on the skin underneath. I do not know whether it is the tea tree oil irritating the area or if it is the beginning of a cold sore. At the ripe age of 25, I've actually never had a cold sore before, despite being exposed to it many times by my husband (knock on wood). So I am not really sure what the beginnings of a cold sore look or feel like. I would like to know if any tea tree oil users experienced this? Thank you! And while I appreciate skincare link problem, kinda looking for info on skin irritation vs. cold sores. Thank you.
yeah! I used tea tree oil from The Body Shop, and it gave me 2 little cold sore looking spots at my lips. I stopped using tea tree oil, because think about it — it is oil, and you are supposed to avoid oily products while you have acne. use neosporin cream (not ointment!) in the area of your lips to clean up stains. If you want to continue to use oil, do it, but do not go near of your lips with it anymore!
