Yerba mate tea gourd question?
I just started drinking yerba mate, and I love it. I thought about getting a gourd for it, but I had a question …… It looks like pumpkin spend a lot of plant material and there is not much drinking for one person is a waste of Gourd Yerba? and how many times can you refill the Gourd, and you can leave it for another day (the same leaves will)? best answer given, thank you for your reply, but …. most importantly, I could refill gourd a few times and then leaving the next morning? I do not want to spend tons of leaves for a "session", can I use the leaves already in gourd and already spent a couple of times), the next day?
The ideal way to enjoy Yerba Mate is a set of Mate (Gourd) and Bombilla (bamboo or stainless steel straw). Mate pumpkin has a long history in South America. They are the traditional vessel used for drinking Yerba Mate, and are made of either a Gourd or elaborately carved wood. Typically, you can refill the gourd eight to ten times or more, depending on the yerba mate, or up to become "washed out" or "flat". Well-aged Yerba mate is typically more potent, and therefore provide a greater number of refills. Before first use, it is a good idea to 'season' The gourd. To do this, brew 6-7 ounces of Yerba Mate in double strength. Poured into the gourd and keep overnight. ************** My suggestion is when the leaves are wet, it is not a good idea to leave them overnight.
